Arunta was designed by Len Randell of Western Australia in the 1950’s. She is a strip planked kauri hull with king billy pine cabin. She sailed around Victoria, and in the mid 1990’s she was purchased by a retired merchant navy engineer, who refitted her in Paynesville with new decks and cabin, and with a Bukh 10hp diesel engine. She was sailed for twilight racing and overnight trips on the Gippsland Lakes.
Jill has owned Arunta for 6 years, and kept her berthed at Paynesville so that she could sail her round the Lakes. The original Bukh has been replaced by a 10 HSP Beta diesel.
