Aeolus was built at the Wooden boat Centre in Melbourne Docklands, with all hull components and planking being CNC cut. The owner undertook outfitting and finishing the hull including all exterior and interior joinery, rudder, centreboard, spars and oars. The spars are hollow built of Oregon; oars are solid Oregon. Seatings and cappings are Amoora
Designed by Francois Vivier in the 1980’s specifically as a “sail and oar” cruising dinghy for fishing and coastal cruising, the aim was to have an exquisite traditional boat which may be built by any person able to make something with their hands. Aeolus is a trailable boat, and the simple rig is raised in a few minutes. She is very easy to launch and recover even by a single person.
