Bundete was designed by Bernard Kennelly who the owner sailed International Cadets with at Sandringham Yacht Club. It was purchased the partly constructed Hull from another Sandringham sailor and the build was finished in 1975
The hull is constructed of BruynZeel Gaboon Plywood and is fitted with an Alspar Mast and Hugh Trehearne Blue Peter sails
She was launched at Hazlewood Pondage in March 1976 at the Victorian State Titles
After a few initial teething problems Bundete was mainly used for Social sailing off McRae
When the owner moved to Horsham in 1983 he was persuaded to sail at Horsham Yacht Club on Green Lake, the only Monohull in a fleet of Catamarans and where all racing was based on VYC Yardstick. The yacht sailed there for many years, Initially with the son of a Member and later with Don Parker’s wife Inge as Crew.
The Cherub moved with the owners to Port Stephens where it was only sailed on a few occasions, and then moved to Newlands Arm in 2023. She has not been used due to age and mobility of the Skipper and Crew.
